Days after the final funeral rites of legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba, Abusuapanin Tupac has paid a special visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to express gratitude for the role played by the Asante traditional leadership during

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, was laid to rest amid nationwide attention, with fans, dignitaries, and traditional leaders coming together to honour his immense contribution to Ghana’s music industry.

The funeral was marked by deep emotions, cultural symbolism, and heavy traditional involvement, especially from the Asante Kingdom.

According to information available to our newsroom, Abusuapanin Tupac visited the Manhyia Palace on Monday, December 15, 2025, just a day after the final funeral ceremonies.

His visit has since attracted public attention after a video surfaced on social media showing him warmly interacting with palace elders.

In the footage, Abusuapanin Tupac appeared relaxed and cheerful as he exchanged greetings with elders at the palace. The atmosphere was calm and respectful, reflecting the traditional nature of the visit.

Although the exact details of the conversation were not audible in the video, sources familiar with the visit indicate that it was purely a thank-you gesture.

Our checks suggest that Abusuapanin Tupac took time out of his busy schedule to personally appreciate the palace for the support, guidance, and coordination offered before and during Daddy Lumba’s funeral rites.

The Asante traditional council is believed to have played a key role in ensuring that the funeral followed appropriate customs and traditions befitting a cultural icon of Lumba’s stature.

Daddy Lumba was not just a musician but a figure deeply connected to Asante heritage. His music, language, and themes resonated strongly with Asante culture, making the involvement of Manhyia Palace both symbolic and necessary.

Many observers believe that this cultural connection explains why traditional authorities were closely involved in the funeral arrangements.

While Abusuapanin Tupac was warmly received by palace elders, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was not seen in the video clips that have been circulating online.

It remains unclear whether the Asantehene was unavailable at the time of the visit or whether the courtesy call was limited to interactions with palace elders.

Despite the Asantehene’s absence from the footage, the visit itself has been widely interpreted as a sign of respect and appreciation for the palace’s role during a difficult period for the music industry and the Asante Kingdom.

Since Daddy Lumba’s passing, several personalities have continued to pay tribute to his legacy. Many artists, cultural leaders, and fans have described him as one of the most influential musicians Ghana has ever produced. His songs continue to shape highlife music and inspire generations across the country and beyond.
