Appearing on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Justin Frimpong Kodua addressed concerns surrounding the conduct of Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly referred to as Abronye DC, in what became a heated and revealing discussion.
The NPP General Secretary criticized Abronye’s conduct, characterizing him as “arrogant and undisciplined” and warning that persistent controversial behavior could trigger disciplinary consequences.
Kodua disclosed that the party had received multiple formal complaints over Abronye’s public remarks, which some considered provocative and damaging.
He said the matter had been examined extensively by the NPP’s National Executive Council, resulting in a final warning being issued to both Abronye and Deputy Communications Officer Ernest Owusu Bempah for misconduct.
He reminded party officials that their public comments carry influence and should therefore be made responsibly.
Kodua stressed that the NPP intends to strengthen internal discipline and would no longer overlook actions capable of weakening party unity, no matter who is involved.
He further indicated that stricter penalties would follow any repeated acts of indiscipline.
Meanwhile, Abronye rejected the legitimacy of the disciplinary measures. In a June 25, 2025 statement, he claimed he had not received any formal invitation to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee and dismissed the process as a “kangaroo court.”
He also accused party leaders of hypocrisy and selective punishment, insisting that he would continue expressing his opinions despite possible consequences.
“I won’t be silenced. I’ll continue speaking, even if I lose my position,” Abronye declared.
The public fallout has generated intense debate within the NPP and beyond. Supporters of Kodua believe stronger discipline is necessary to rebuild unity and credibility, while critics argue the disagreement exposes deeper tensions within the party.
As elections and internal reforms draw closer, the handling of this dispute may play a key role in shaping the NPP’s future.
