Cape Coast Teaching Hospital recorded the birth of twenty-five babies on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, marking a joyful milestone for the hospital and families who welcomed new lives during the festive season.

The celebration was made more memorable when telecommunications giant MTN Ghana paid a surprise visit to the hospital and presented baby hampers to the newborns and their mothers.

The visit by MTN Ghana’s management brought excitement and smiles to the maternity ward, as staff, mothers, and relatives gathered to witness the presentation.

The initiative formed part of MTN’s annual Christmas outreach activities aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and spreading goodwill during the festive season.

Each baby hamper presented contained essential items needed for newborn care, including diapers, detergents, soap, baby oil, toys, and other personal care products.

The gesture was particularly timely, as it addressed some of the immediate needs of mothers who had just delivered and were preparing to care for their babies.

The donation was warmly received by hospital authorities and beneficiaries. Speaking on behalf of the hospital management, staff, and the mothers, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Madam Veronica Koomson, expressed heartfelt appreciation to MTN Ghana for its continued support.

She highlighted the challenges faced by many expectant mothers who arrive at the hospital without basic delivery and postnatal items.

According to her, it is not uncommon for women to report to the maternity ward with little or no preparation due to financial difficulties.

“On behalf of the hospital management, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, and the beneficiary mothers, I say a very big thank you to MTN Ghana,” Madam Koomson said.

“On occasions like this, MTN always comes to support us with what the babies need. Indeed, most pregnant women come to the delivery ward with nothing, not even baby diapers, and nurses sometimes have to contribute money to help needy mothers.”

She noted that the baby hampers would go a long way in easing the burden on the new mothers, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.

Madam Koomson added that the hospital was grateful for the consistent partnership and prayed for God’s blessings upon the company so it could continue to extend such support to communities across the country.

Presenting the items on behalf of MTN Ghana, Madam Regina Arkaifie, the company’s Human Resources representative for the Western and Central Regions, explained that the gesture was inspired by the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

She referenced the biblical account of the wise men who presented gifts to welcome the newborn king.

According to her, MTN Ghana’s initiative symbolically reflects that same spirit of love, generosity, and welcome.

“Just as the wise men presented gifts to celebrate the birth of Jesus, MTN is also welcoming these babies into the world and ushering them into the MTN family,” she explained.

Madam Arkaifie also used the occasion to reaffirm MTN Ghana’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development.

She noted that beyond providing communication services, the company remains dedicated to making meaningful contributions that positively impact lives.

Touching on the future, she revealed that MTN Ghana has exciting plans lined up for the coming year, including the introduction of new products and services aimed at improving customer experience and supporting national development.

“On behalf of MTN management, we are grateful that MTN continues to contribute its quota to the communities we operate in. Supporting mothers and welcoming new lives is one of the ways we give back and make a lasting impact,” she said.

The visit ended on a joyful note, with mothers expressing gratitude and hospital staff commending MTN Ghana for its timely intervention.
