According to a report by TV3 Ghana on Friday, March 20, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama used this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration to deliver a message centered on peace, unity, and national harmony.

In his address, Mahama commended Ghanaians for sustaining a culture of religious tolerance.

He pointed out that people of different faiths, including Muslims, Christians, and others, continue to coexist peacefully, setting an example for many parts of the world where divisions along religious and cultural lines remain a challenge.

According to him, this spirit of unity is one of Ghana’s greatest strengths and should be preserved.

He further explained that Eid al-Fitr goes beyond festivities, describing it as a period for deep reflection, compassion, and a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.

He encouraged citizens to embrace the core values of the season, such as love, sacrifice, and mutual respect, in their daily lives.

Looking beyond Ghana, Mahama expressed concern over the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, calling for immediate global intervention to restore peace and stability.

He stressed that conflicts in that region have consequences that extend far beyond its borders, affecting global security and human lives.

In a direct appeal, he mentioned former U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him and other global leaders to take active steps toward ending the violence. Mahama emphasized the need for diplomacy, dialogue, and responsible leadership in resolving international conflicts.

He also encouraged the Muslim community to use the Eid period to pray for peace across the world. Concluding his message, Mahama wished Muslims a joyful celebration and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity, stability, and peaceful coexistence within Ghana and beyond.
