The footage, which has been widely shared online, shows two men breaking into a rented apartment in broad daylight, leaving neighbours alarmed about the growing insecurity in the area.
According to the video, the suspects arrived in a sleek saloon car just after midday. They parked calmly outside the apartment compound, giving no hint of their intentions.
The footage showed the two men confidently walking into the compound. One of them began tampering with the door of an apartment, while the second man stood guard to monitor any movements along the road.
After a brief struggle, the door was forced open, and the intruder disappeared inside the house. His accomplice remained outside, ready to signal if anyone approached.
Residents who later reviewed the CCTV footage were shocked at how bold the suspects were, breaking into the building in the middle of the day without raising suspicion.
A neighbour said, “This is very frightening. They knew people were away at work, and they just came in like it was nothing.”
The stolen items have not yet been officially confirmed, but neighbours said the thieves carried away electronics, including a flat-screen television.
Police in Dansoman have launched investigations into the incident and have urged residents to report any suspicious activity in the neighbourhood.
The incident has sparked conversations about rising insecurity in urban areas of Accra. Many Ghanaians online expressed their frustration, noting that thieves have become more daring, targeting apartments even when residents are around.
Some called on landlords to invest in stronger gates and additional security guards to protect tenants.
Others emphasized the importance of CCTV cameras, pointing out that without the footage, the crime might have gone unnoticed.
“At least now we have evidence that can help track them down,” one social media user commented.
