Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Kasoa following the mysterious death of Richard Owusu, a 34-year-old Ghanaian man working in Dubai, whose lifeless body was discovered in a latrine days after a night out with friends.

According to reports, Richard had recently secured a better job in Dubai, completed his probation, and was recently promoted to a senior position. To celebrate the achievement, he went out with a few close friends and colleagues.

However, what began as a night of joy quickly turned tragic. Richard reportedly left his company accommodation after dinner with a colleague and later joined a group of fellow Ghanaians at a small makeshift bar in an abandoned warehouse in Deira, a popular spot among Ghanaian workers abroad but known for its safety concerns.

That night, Richard never returned to his room. His colleagues became worried when he failed to report to work the following day.

Strangely, his passport, wallet, and personal belongings were later found untouched in his apartment.

After several days of searching, the heartbreaking discovery was made on August 29 when his body was found dumped inside a latrine near the same drinking spot.

Authorities confirmed that the body bore blood stains and injuries, suggesting a violent death.

Witnesses reported that the men believed to be managing the makeshift bar had disappeared soon after Richard went missing.

Security officials in Dubai have since launched investigations, working with Ghanaian community leaders to trace possible suspects.

Richard’s friends and colleagues described him as hardworking, humble, and friendly. One close friend, Samuel Boateng, recalled how Richard helped him settle when he first arrived in Dubai, saying, “He was more than a brother. It’s painful to lose him like this.”

Another colleague revealed that Richard had been looking forward to bringing his wife and young daughter to Dubai after his promotion, a dream now shattered.

Arrangements are underway to repatriate his body to Ghana, where his grieving family in Kasoa awaits his return for burial.

Police have urged Ghanaians working abroad to remain cautious of unsafe gatherings and report suspicious activities immediately as investigations into Richard’s death continue.
