The deceased, identified as Daniel Owusu, had reportedly checked into the Golden Palm Lodge on Tuesday, and had been staying there until his unexpected death.
According to the lodge manager, the incident was discovered during a routine inspection. He explained that he knocked repeatedly on Mr. Owusu’s door but received no response.
Management immediately alerted the Osu Police Station, and officers arrived at the scene shortly after. Upon entering the room, police confirmed that the man had passed away.
Inside the lodge room, investigators found several packets of assorted medication placed near the bed.
The items were collected as part of the ongoing investigation to determine whether they played a role in the death.
The body was later moved to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to establish the exact cause of death.
According to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, there were no immediate signs of foul play, but detectives are waiting for the autopsy results to guide further action.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the increasing number of sudden deaths in guest houses and lodges across Accra and other parts of Ghana.
Speaking to reporters, a senior police officer advised hotel and lodge operators to conduct frequent welfare checks, especially on long-staying clients, to avoid similar tragedies.
Police are also urging members of the public to report any suspicious activities in hotels, guesthouses, and lodges to assist with investigations and improve security in these establishments.
For now, authorities are treating the matter as an unexplained death pending the outcome of the medical examination.
