Ghana’s Interior Ministry has confirmed that there are no official reports of threats against Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor.

However, the Ministry has ordered a full investigation following claims of assassination attempts and allegations of police misconduct.

The announcement comes after Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, spoke on Newsfile, a television program in Accra, on December 6, 2025.

He claimed that there had been two attempts on the life of the Special Prosecutor and also stated that he had been handcuffed and beaten by 17 police officers.

In response, the Interior Ministry said that preliminary contacts with Mr. Agyebeng revealed that any alleged assassination attempts occurred before this year.

“There is no record or report of such threats at any police station or state security agency,” the ministry noted.

Despite this, the Minister of Interior emphasized that crime does not expire and has ordered a thorough investigation into all claims.

“The Ministry is treating these allegations with the seriousness they deserve,” the statement added.

Officials will investigate the reported threats to the Special Prosecutor as well as the claims made by Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko regarding police misconduct.

The Ministry stressed that the safety of personnel working in accountability and governance institutions is crucial.
