Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on Ghanaians to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to demonstrate compassion, unity, and selfless service, particularly towards the most vulnerable members of society.
In a Christmas goodwill message released on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Vice President encouraged citizens to look beyond the festivities and reconnect with the deeper meaning of the season, which she described as rooted in love, hope, and kindness.
According to her, the birth of Christ carries timeless lessons that remain relevant to Ghana’s current journey of national renewal and development.
“This sacred season reminds us of the priceless gifts of hope, peace, love, and compassion that the Saviour brought to humanity,” she stated.
Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang urged families and communities to make generosity a central part of their celebrations, stressing that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of those facing hardship.
She specifically called for support for the poor, the sick, and other vulnerable groups, noting that Christmas should be a time when no one feels forgotten or abandoned.
“In this spirit, let us reach out to the vulnerable, share what we have with those in need, and show kindness to one another,” she said.
The Vice President also linked the message of Christmas to Ghana’s broader national agenda, emphasizing that unity and service are essential as the country continues efforts to reset and rebuild key sectors of the economy and society.
She noted that national progress cannot be achieved without shared values and collective responsibility, adding that the principles symbolized by Christmas should inspire citizens to contribute positively to the nation’s growth.
“As we continue the important work of resetting and building the Ghana we all desire, may the light of Christmas inspire us to greater harmony, service, and progress,” she added.
Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang further encouraged Ghanaians to embrace peace and tolerance during the festive season, reminding citizens that unity remains one of the country’s greatest strengths.
She concluded her message by extending warm wishes to all Ghanaians at home and abroad, expressing hope for a brighter and more prosperous year ahead.
“Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all,” the Vice President signed off.
