Evangelist Papa Shee has now shed light on what really happened, explaining that Akosua Serwaa did not deliberately avoid the funeral, as many have suggested.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam morning show, Papa Shee revealed that Daddy Lumba’s wife was never officially informed about the funeral date.
According to him, the information circulating about the event only reached her through rumors and informal conversations, not through proper family communication.
Papa Shee explained that Akosua Serwaa is currently based in Germany, together with some other key family members.

Because of this, the family had earlier agreed that the funeral should be postponed until everyone could travel to Ghana and take part in the final rites.
“She was not officially told that the funeral would be held on the 13th. What she heard was only hearsay,” Papa Shee stated.
He added that Akosua Serwaa had chosen to leave the matter in God’s hands, trusting that the family would follow the right process at the appropriate time.
Papa Shee also addressed his own absence from the funeral, clarifying that it was a personal and spiritual decision.

According to him, some elders close to him had already decided not to attend, and as a sign of respect, he chose to stay away as well.
“I stayed at home worshipping. I didn’t see the need to attend when my elders had already decided they would not go,” he explained.
The evangelist further noted that the absence of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family members at the funeral raises questions about whether the ceremony should be considered final.

He suggested that the family still has the authority to decide if another service or proper burial rites will be held later.
“Since his immediate family members were not present, it is left to them to decide whether there will be another service,” Papa Shee said.
In closing, Papa Shee spoke highly of Akosua Serwaa, describing her as a major pillar in Daddy Lumba’s life and success. He emphasized that her influence on the late musician’s career cannot be ignored.
“Akosua Serwaa played a big role in who Daddy Lumba became,” he said.
