BREAKING NEWS: NDC MP for Ayawaso East, McNaza, Dead

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Hon. Naser Toure Mahama, popularly known as McNaza, has passed away, gh-press has confirmed.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear as at the time of filing this report. An official statement from the family is yet to be released.

Sources indicate that the family is expected to issue a formal announcement in the coming hours.

Hon. Naser Toure Mahama was a serving lawmaker representing the Ayawaso East Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

His death comes as a shock to constituents, party supporters, and colleagues in Parliament.

Born on March 17, 1965, Hon. Mahama hailed from Nima in Accra, within the Greater Accra Region. He received his secondary education at West Africa Senior High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Central University College in 1987. 

He later obtained a Diploma in Governance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and an MBA from Doshisha University in Japan.

He entered Parliament in 2013 after winning the Ayawaso East seat in the 2012 general elections and served continuously from January 7, 2013. 

In the 2024 general elections, he was re-elected with a decisive victory, polling 22,139 votes, representing 70.85 percent of the total votes cast.

Before politics, Hon. Mahama built a notable private-sector career, serving as Managing Director of Aminasei Oil Company from 1993 to 2011 and working with OTA Forex Bureau between 2001 and 2003.

He was a Muslim, married, and a father. He was widely respected for blending business experience with legislative work in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
