Security authorities have confirmed a major breakthrough in the investigation into the tragic killing of an in-law of Sammy Gyamfi, following the arrest of several suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
According to officials, the suspects allegedly targeted the victim over a mobile phone and a vehicle, leading to a violent confrontation that ultimately resulted in his death.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Ghana addressed the public and provided a detailed account of how law enforcement officers tracked down the individuals involved.
He explained that the police launched an intensive intelligence-led operation immediately after the incident was reported.
Through surveillance, digital tracking, and coordinated field operations, authorities were able to identify key suspects and monitor their movements.
During the operation to apprehend the group, the alleged gang leader was shot dead in an exchange of gunfire with security personnel. Police officials stated that the confrontation occurred when officers attempted to arrest him and he reportedly resisted, leading to the fatal outcome.
Other members of the group were successfully arrested and are currently in custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
The IGP commended the swift response of the investigative team and reassured the public of the police service’s commitment to tackling violent crime. He emphasized that anyone who engages in criminal activity will be pursued and brought to justice, regardless of their motives.
