According to a report by Iran International on March 5, 2026, Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Jim Risch said that Iran is increasingly isolated on the international stage, with major world powers unwilling to provide support.

The Republican senator pointed out that nations often seen as Tehran’s allies such as China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela have not offered meaningful assistance.

Risch argued that this lack of backing shows just how alone Iran is in the current crisis. He added that the only political group appearing to support Tehran comes from within the United States, stating, “China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela are not coming to Iran’s aid and the only entity left that appears to be trying to help you, Iran, is the Democrats.”

Risch also highlighted a major shift in Arab nations’ attitudes toward Iran over the past decades. Many countries in the region have grown frustrated with Iran’s confrontational behavior. “Over the last 47 years, the Arab countries have gotten tired of this.

They’re sick and tired of this,” he said, noting that regional governments now prioritize stability, cooperation, and security over conflict. He described Iran as the “one bad apple left in the region,” isolated from neighbors seeking peace and economic growth.

He further accused Iran’s leadership of maintaining hostility toward the United States while the broader Middle East moved toward diplomacy.

Risch claimed that Iran’s actions over 47 years have led to the deaths of thousands of Americans, reinforcing Tehran’s diplomatic isolation and leaving it politically alone.
