The incident took place in the busy East Legon area, known for its heavy foot traffic and vibrant commercial activities.
According to eyewitnesses, the three robbers, all in their late twenties, entered the popular store just before it was about to close.
Armed with pistols, they threatened the shopkeeper and customers, demanding money and valuables.
However, the robbers' plan quickly turned disastrous. The shopkeeper, who had experience dealing with such situations, remained calm and triggered a silent alarm, alerting nearby authorities.
At the same time, a private security guard stationed outside the store rushed to the scene. Armed with a firearm, the guard confronted the robbers.
A gunfight broke out between the security guard and the robbers, and during the exchange of fire, all three suspects were fatally shot.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before the situation was brought under control. Law enforcement arrived shortly after and secured the scene, preventing further casualties.
Police are now investigating the suspects' activities to determine if they were part of a larger criminal syndicate.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
“We urge everyone to stay alert and report any crime-related behavior to the authorities immediately,” a police spokesperson said.
