Nurse,Okada Rider Shot Dead In Suspected Armed Robbery Attack

Two people, including a nurse and an okada rider, were shot dead by suspected armed robbers in Mpohor, located in the Western Region’s Mpohor District. 

The violent attack occurred on the night of Thursday, March 19, 2026, along the Mpohor road near the Awonakrom School junction.

According to reports from Connect FM, the assailants had allegedly received a tip-off about a gold buyer traveling to Tarkwa and were lying in wait to rob him upon his return.

While waiting for their intended target, the armed men reportedly opened fire indiscriminately on passing vehicles.

An okada rider, identified as Kwame Anumde, was among the first victims and was killed instantly. Another victim, Benjamin Peprah, a nurse and resident of Mpohor, was shot while driving through the area and also died on the spot.

Nana Andoh, a member of the Mpohor-Fiase Okada Association, confirmed the death of Kwame Anumde. He described the ambush, saying, “Last night, at the Awonakrom School junction, one of our members, popularly known as Kwame Anumde, was shot dead by armed robbers. 

They had laid ambush on the road and were shooting at anyone who passed by. Unfortunately, he was hit and died instantly.”

Following the attack, the robbers fled the scene. The incident has been reported to the police, who have commenced investigations into the ambush. 

Residents have expressed shock over the killings, highlighting concerns about road safety and the rising threat of armed robberies in the area.
