The woman, believed to be in her late twenties, had recently started working with a well-known bank in the city.
According to police sources, neighbors grew suspicious after they noticed her door had been left slightly open for hours.
When they alerted the landlord, he decided to check inside the room. To their horror, they found the lifeless body of the banker lying in the bedroom.
Police investigators who arrived at the scene confirmed that the woman had sustained injuries, suggesting foul play.
Preliminary findings point to a possible struggle before her death. Personal belongings, including her phone and laptop, were missing, raising concerns that robbery might have been a motive.
The Accra Regional Police Command has since launched a manhunt for the main suspect believed to have been in contact with the victim shortly before the incident.
Officers say they are following leads from CCTV cameras installed around the area and are confident the suspect will be apprehended soon.
A police spokesperson described the case as “deeply troubling” and assured the public that every effort is being made to deliver justice.
“We are treating this as a homicide investigation. Our team is working tirelessly to track down the suspect,” he said.
The news has sparked fear and sadness in the community, especially among young professionals who live alone. Some residents expressed concern about increasing cases of break-ins and violent crimes in the city.
“This is very frightening. She was only starting her career, and for her life to be cut short in this way is heartbreaking,” a neighbor lamented.
Colleagues at the bank where she worked are also said to be devastated. Many described her as hardworking, cheerful, and dedicated to her new role.
One coworker said, “She was excited about her future. None of us can believe this happened.”
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious persons or activities.
They also encouraged landlords and tenants to strengthen security in residential areas.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the police hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
