Police in Obuasi, Ashanti Region, are holding a 27-year-old man who allegedly killed his wife after accusing her of cheating.

The shocking incident happened in the early hours of Monday, leaving residents in disbelief.

According to initial police reports, the suspect had traveled from Accra over the weekend after being informed by friends that his wife was allegedly involved with another man in Obuasi.


On arrival, he is said to have asked around about the supposed lover’s residence before taking matters into his own hands.

Eyewitnesses told police that on Monday morning, the suspect stormed the house of the alleged lover at Estate Junction, where he reportedly found his 23-year-old wife in bed with another man.

In a fit of anger, the suspect allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife multiple times in the chest and stomach.

Neighbors who heard the commotion rushed to the scene but were too late to save the young woman. They immediately called the police.

Officers who arrived at the scene arrested the suspect and retrieved the knife believed to have been used in the act.

The body of the deceased was later taken to the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Obuasi District Police Commander, who confirmed the incident, described it as a heartbreaking case.

He urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands, stressing that disagreements in marriages and relationships should be settled through dialogue or legal channels rather than violence.

“We understand emotions can run high in such situations, but violence only destroys lives and families. We are investigating the matter, and the suspect will be charged in court after our inquiries,” the commander stated.

The incident has sparked heated discussions in the community, with many expressing shock at the tragic turn of events.

Some residents have called for more public education on conflict resolution and anger management, especially among young couples.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Authorities say he will be arraigned before court soon to face charges related to the killing.
