A public call for clarification has sparked discussion on transparency and accountability in Ghana, following comments directed at a prominent legal and political figure.

In a Facebook post dated 12 April 2026, Kwabena Bobie Ansah appealed to Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko to disclose details regarding payments allegedly received by his law firm, Africa Legal Associates (ALA).

The request relates to the controversial Agyapa Royalties Deal, a policy initiative that attracted significant national debate when it was introduced.

The deal involved efforts by the Government of Ghana to monetize future gold royalties through a structured financial arrangement.

According to the post, Ansah questioned how much ALA received for its reported role as a financial advisor in transactions involving Imara Corporate Finance and the Government of Ghana.

He indicated that there have been claims circulating that the firm received as much as $20 million, and he called for clarity on the matter.

The post emphasized that the question was being raised publicly in the interest of transparency and to address ongoing discussions about whether certain individuals benefited from government contracts during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Agyapa deal itself became a major topic of public and parliamentary scrutiny, with stakeholders raising concerns about governance, valuation, and the structure of the agreement.

While some argued that it presented an innovative way to raise funds, others questioned aspects of transparency and potential conflicts of interest.

Ansah’s request reflects a broader demand among sections of the public for openness in government transactions, particularly those involving large financial commitments and international partnerships.

Many believe that clear disclosure of financial arrangements helps build trust and strengthens democratic accountability.

As of now, there has been no official response from Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko or Africa Legal Associates regarding the specific claims mentioned in the post. The figures cited remain unverified, and no independent confirmation has been provided.

The development highlights the growing role of social media in shaping public discourse and raising questions about governance.

It also underscores the importance of accurate information, proper documentation, and official communication in addressing public concerns.

As conversations continue, many observers are calling for facts, transparency, and responsible engagement from all parties involved to ensure that public confidence in national processes is maintained.
