A Presidential Staffer, Rosemond Obeng, has fired back at NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia after he claimed to have conveyed a message from Ghanaians to President John Mahama.
According to Rosemond Obeng, Dr. Bawumia conveniently forgot to remind Ghanaians of his own record while delivering his message to President Mahama.
"Dr. Bawumia, did Ghanaians also remind you how the dollar went from ¢4 to ¢17 under your watch?" she questioned.
According to her, Dr. Bawumia, who served as Vice President, oversaw a period where the Ghanaian cedi depreciated heavily against the US dollar, moving from ¢4 to ¢17.
She believes this damaged the lives of ordinary Ghanaians and made the cost of living unbearable for many households across the country.
Rosemond Obeng also questioned how Dr. Bawumia could transition from what she described as being a failed economist to now presenting himself as an Artificial Intelligence champion.
She insisted that his own economic fundamentals exposed him for who he truly is, and that no amount of rebranding can change that narrative.
In her view, Dr. Bawumia does not have the moral standing to send any message on behalf of Ghanaians to President Mahama, given what she described as his poor economic performance while in office.
She made clear that Ghanaians remember what happened under his watch. According to her, the hardships families endured during that period are not something people can easily forget, regardless of how Dr. Bawumia now chooses to present himself publicly.
Rosemond Obeng's remarks have added fresh tension to the ongoing political exchanges between the ruling National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party.
