A key suspect in the case of a missing man from Oyibi has allegedly confessed to killing him and burning his body in the Legon area, according to preliminary police information.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed by authorities, was reportedly arrested following days of intense search operations after the victim was declared missing under suspicious circumstances.

Investigators say the breakthrough came after sustained interrogation and intelligence-led tracking.

Sources familiar with the case indicate that the suspect admitted during questioning that the victim was killed during a confrontation.

He further allegedly confessed to transporting the body to a secluded area near Legon, where it was set ablaze in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Police have not yet publicly confirmed the details of the alleged confession but say forensic teams have been deployed to the reported scene to verify claims and gather additional evidence. Officers are also working to recover any remaining human remains for identification and autopsy.

The disappearance of the Oyibi resident had sparked public concern, with family members and community residents appealing for urgent action and updates on the case. The alleged confession, if substantiated, marks a significant development in the investigation.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as investigations continue. They also assured that due process will be followed, and all individuals connected to the case will be thoroughly interrogated.

Meanwhile, security agencies are expected to release an official statement once preliminary forensic results are concluded and the suspect’s claims are fully verified. The case remains under active investigation.
