“Don’t Call Me Davido’s Wife” – Sophia Momodu Warns Against Intrusion and Disrespect

Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido, has issued a firm public warning to fans, content creators, and social media users, urging them to stop referring to her as the singer’s wife and to respect personal boundaries. 

Her remarks, delivered in a video that has since gained traction online, have reignited conversations about privacy, respect, and the pressures placed on women linked to high-profile celebrities.

Momodu’s comments followed an uncomfortable encounter with a content creator who approached her in public and attempted to generate viral material by linking her to Davido. 

According to her, the interaction crossed personal lines and reflected a broader culture of intrusion that she has endured for years.

Recounting the incident, Momodu expressed clear frustration at the assumptions people continue to make about her private life. 

“Outside, the guys that were doing content saw me and then he got really excited. Wrong person, guys, wrong place, wrong female,” she said, describing how the situation immediately made her uncomfortable.

She went on to caution content creators and members of the public against exploiting personal histories for attention or clicks. 

“Let’s not do that. Let’s respect people’s marriages. Respect people… if people have moved on, allow them to move on in peace,” she stated.

Sophia Momodu stressed that being associated with a famous name does not erase an individual’s right to dignity and personal space. 

She noted that repeated public references to her past relationship have made it difficult for her to live freely without constant reminders and labels imposed by others.

In the widely shared clip, Momodu also addressed what she described as persistent public assumptions about her current status and intentions. She made it clear that she does not wish to be dragged into narratives that no longer reflect her reality. 

“I don’t want to move on in peace. I don’t want to see everyone is at peace. Everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Just I don’t want us to move on,” she said.

However, a clearer message accompanied the video in a caption that circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter). 

“Please stop calling me Davido’s wife, let’s all have respect for each other. I have already moved on from Davido,” the caption read, leaving little doubt about her position.

The video quickly sparked debate across social media platforms, with many users applauding Momodu for speaking up against what they see as a long-standing tendency to define women by their relationships to powerful men. 

Supporters argued that her statement highlights the emotional toll of constant public scrutiny and the lack of empathy often shown toward women in celebrity-adjacent spaces.

Others, however, questioned her phrasing and tone, suggesting that her comments could be misinterpreted.
