The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has successfully apprehended four suspects linked to a violent armed robbery that occurred in Ofoase Kokobeng near Anwiankwanta earlier this month.

The suspects, identified as Salifu Adamu, 25, also known as “Scorpion”; Abdul Latif, 20, known as “Bullet”; Samed Abdulai, 40; and Ali Mustapha, 30, have been taken into police custody as investigations into the case continue.

According to police reports, the incident unfolded on December 8, 2025, when the victim, Aliu Mohammed, was accosted and robbed of several valuables.

Among the items stolen were gold, cash, a mobile phone, a pump-action gun, and his Toyota Camry Spider (registration number GR 8009-15).

The brazen nature of the attack sent shockwaves throughout the local community, raising concerns about safety and security in the Ashanti South region.

Addressing the media in Bekwai on December 12, Ashanti South Regional Commander DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba provided detailed information about the police response.

He explained that officers acted swiftly upon receiving reports of the robbery, quickly tracing the victim’s abandoned vehicle to Ofoase Kokobeng township. However, the perpetrators had already fled the scene, making immediate arrests impossible at that time.

DCOP Nyaaba emphasized the importance of intelligence in the operation.

“Through extensive intelligence gathering and coordination with local units, we were able to identify and track down two of the suspects, Salifu Adamu and Abdul Latif, at the Tweapease Police checkpoint on the evening of December 9, around 6 p.m.,” he said.

The remaining two suspects, Samed Abdulai and Ali Mustapha, were later apprehended at the same location on the morning of December 10 at approximately 8 a.m., following further interrogations and investigative work.

The Regional Commander described the arrests as a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the police force in responding to criminal activities.

“Our officers worked diligently to ensure that these individuals were brought to justice, and we will continue to pursue all leads until the full network behind this robbery is dismantled,” he stated.

Authorities have cautioned that the investigation is ongoing, and additional suspects may still be identified. Police are urging anyone with information that could aid in the case to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement.

“We call on the public to support the police in maintaining law and order. Your cooperation is vital to ensuring a safe and crime-free environment, particularly as we approach the festive season,” DCOP Nyaaba added.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has also taken the opportunity to remind the public about general safety precautions and the importance of vigilance.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities promptly and to take necessary measures to secure their property and personal safety.

The arrests come at a time when the country is gearing up for the festive season, a period often associated with heightened security risks.

Police are urging communities to remain alert and to assist in reporting criminal acts to ensure that celebrations remain safe and peaceful.

As the suspects remain in custody, investigations are set to continue, with authorities pledging a thorough legal process.

DCOP Nyaaba concluded by reiterating the commitment of the Ashanti South Regional Police Command to uphold justice, maintain peace, and ensure that the perpetrators of criminal activities face appropriate consequences under the law.
