Residents Injured in Gun Attack at Ho Mosque After Confrontation with Armed Men

Several residents in Ho in the Volta Region have sustained gunshot wounds following a violent confrontation with masked, armed individuals at a local mosque, raising fresh security concerns in the regional capital.

According to information reported by Crime Check TV, the incident occurred when a group of unidentified gunmen allegedly entered the mosque during a gathering and demanded access to the facility by requesting the keys. 

Witnesses say the intruders attempted to force worshippers out of the mosque under unclear circumstances.

The situation reportedly escalated when residents living near the mosque confronted the armed men, leading to a tense clash. During the confrontation, gunshots were fired, resulting in multiple people sustaining injuries.

Police authorities have confirmed that at least fifteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. 

Victims who suffered gunshot wounds and other injuries were rushed to nearby health facilities, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

In response to the incident, security around the mosque and its surrounding neighbourhoods has been significantly strengthened. 

A combined presence of police and military personnel has been deployed to maintain calm and prevent any further disturbances.

As of the time of filing this report, law enforcement agencies have not released detailed information regarding the motive behind the attack or the identities of those involved. 

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the confrontation and to determine whether the incident was targeted or random.
