GSA Debunks Reports of GH¢6 Cement Price Increase

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that the price of cement will be increased by GH¢6.

In an official statement shared through its verified channels, the Authority described the information as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it. 

According to the GSA, no such decision has been taken by the relevant body responsible for cement pricing and regulation.

“The Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the Ghana Standards Authority, has not issued any directive approving a price increment,” the statement clarified.

The GSA further advised consumers, retailers, and industry players to be cautious when encountering unverified information, especially content shared on social media and messaging platforms.

The Authority stressed the importance of relying on official communication channels for accurate and credible information.

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) wishes to inform the general public that the notice circulating about a ¢6 price increment of cement on Monday, 19th January, 2026, is FALSE.

The Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the GSA, has not issued any such directive.

We advise the public to be cautious of false information and to verify claims through our official channels before taking any action.

The clarification comes amid growing public concern about the cost of building materials and their impact on construction and housing in the country.
