A woman and mother of three has sparked deep emotions on social media after revealing that her 2-year-old daughter tested positive for HIV, while both parents and the other children tested negative.
The woman shared her painful experience in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing shock, confusion, and heartbreak over the diagnosis.
According to her, the child had been unwell for some time, showing symptoms such as vomiting and constant crying.
She explained that she first took her daughter to the hospital, where doctors prescribed medication. However, the child’s condition did not improve.
Concerned, she returned to the hospital for further examination. This time, medical tests were conducted, including an HIV test.
The result, she said, was devastating.
“I’m in pain… my heart is breaking. I’ve been married for 7 years and I have three children. My 2-year-old has been sick, vomiting, and crying nonstop.
When I took her to the hospital, she was given medication, but nothing changed. I went back again yesterday, and she was tested for HIV. Unfortunately, she tested positive.”
The woman added that she immediately got herself tested and received a negative result. She also stated that her husband and their other two children tested negative, which made the situation even more confusing and distressing.
“I was tested too, and I came out negative. My husband is negative. The other children are negative. Why her alone? She’s only 2 years old. I don’t understand how this happened.”
Her post quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and reactions from social media users, many of whom expressed sympathy, concern, and advice.
Some users encouraged her to remain calm and seek further medical clarification. Others advised her to request additional medical investigations to understand how the child may have contracted the virus.
One user, Fareeda Kiri, urged caution and thorough checks, saying the mother should seek clarity for peace of mind rather than speculation.
Another user, Edmond, expressed confusion, questioning how only one child could test positive while both parents and siblings were negative.
Many commenters focused on offering emotional support. A user identified as Head of State shared words of comfort, reminding the mother that HIV is now a manageable condition with proper medical care.
“The most important thing now is to focus on her health and getting the right treatment. HIV can be managed, and with proper care, she can still live a long and healthy life.”
Others described the situation as heartbreaking and unimaginable for any parent. Rhoda, another user, emphasized the emotional pain involved, while Queen Oma questioned possible points of exposure, including events around the child’s birth or caregiving history.
Overall, the story has sparked serious discussion and concern online, highlighting the emotional toll such a diagnosis can have on a family.
As the mother continues her painful journey, many netizens have urged her to lean on medical professionals, family, and available support systems while focusing on the child’s treatment and wellbeing.
