"Apologise Or Else" Kevin Taylor Demands Unreserved Apology from Bawumia’s Economist Teacher

Firebrand Ghanaian broadcaster Kevin Taylor has issued a stern demand for a strong and unqualified apology from an economist widely described as a former teacher and mentor to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, following comments Taylor says were disrespectful, misleading, and politically reckless.

In a heated reaction, Taylor accused the economist of abusing his academic credentials to push what he described as false narratives and partisan propaganda in defence of the former Vice President.

According to Taylor, the remarks went beyond healthy political debate and descended into personal attacks and intellectual dishonesty.

Taylor insisted that being an economist or a former lecturer does not grant anyone moral superiority or immunity from criticism, especially when public commentary has the potential to misinform Ghanaians.

He stressed that the apology must be public and unequivocal, noting that silence or half-hearted explanations would only deepen the controversy.

“This is not about politics alone; it’s about responsibility,” Taylor argued, adding that academics who enter the political space must be prepared to be held to the same standards as politicians and commentators.

The demand has sparked intense reactions online, with supporters of Kevin Taylor backing his call for accountability, while others—particularly sympathisers of Dr. Bawumia—have accused Taylor of trying to intimidate respected academics with his confrontational style.

As the debate rages on, all eyes are now on the economist at the centre of the storm, with many waiting to see whether an apology will be issued or if the war of words will further escalate in Ghana’s already charged political discourse.
