Lawyer Martin Kpebu has issued a sharp warning regarding the upcoming by-election in Ayawaso East, saying that a victory for the NDC would taint the seat.

According to Kpebu, the implications of an NDC win go beyond simple political competition.

He argues that the circumstances surrounding the by-election — including alleged irregularities and controversies — mean that any victory for the opposition would carry questions about legitimacy and credibility.

“Winning under these conditions would taint the seat,” Kpebu said, emphasizing that the public and party members should be vigilant and ensure that the process is fair, transparent, and free from manipulation.

The warning comes as political tensions rise in the constituency, with both major parties mobilizing supporters and stakeholders closely monitoring developments.

Kpebu’s statement adds fuel to the debate, signaling that the by-election is being viewed not just as a local contest, but as a measure of political accountability and integrity.

Observers say the upcoming vote will be closely scrutinized, as it may set a precedent for how contested seats are perceived and handled in Ghana’s political landscape.
