One of the fantastic news in Ghana currently has to do with the decline of inflation.

However, there are several concerns from Ghana which indicated that despite the decline of inflation in Ghana, food items and other services are still costly.

In his presentation on Joy News on Tuesday 10th February 2026, Evans Mensah Shows up with a bread to make a fantastic analysis after speaking with some of the bread producers in Ghana.

According to the analysis and the responses from the bread producers, it has been confirmed generally that the price of flour and margarine for bread production has been reduced drastically, yet the bread producers are increasing the price for the bread they are producing.

A bread which costs 19 gh¢ is now 20gh¢ and some can be bought at 22 gh¢.

In his submission, Evans Mensah made it clear that, prices goods and services are moving up slowly despite the decline of inflation in Ghana. This is an issue that must be addressed.

Ghana's inflation rate has dropped to 3.8% in January 2026, marking the 13th consecutive month of decline and the lowest rate since the price rebasing exercise in 2021.

The Ghana Statistical Service attributes this decrease to a significant drop in food and non-food inflation, with food inflation easing to 3.9% and non-food inflation also at 3.9%.

Some key contributors to this decline include garden eggs, fried fish, and fresh tomatoes, which saw significant price drops. However, items like ginger, green plantain, and palm fruits experienced high price increases.
