J.A. Sarbah, a political commentator affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party, has expressed heartfelt admiration for former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a Facebook post shared on February 13, 2026.
In a post titled "We Are Sorry, Akufo-Addo," Sarbah apologized on behalf of Ghanaians for falling prey to what he described as NDC lies, propaganda, hate engineering, and open disdain.
He praised the former president’s leadership, noting that the truth is emerging in snow-white clarity, so that even the blind can see.
Sarbah highlighted the former president’s decisive leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming that many more Ghanaians would have died in the crossfire of the pandemic if John Mahama had been in power at the time.
He contrasted Akufo-Addo’s governance with what he described as the hypothetical mismanagement under Mahama, suggesting that the country’s survival and stability during the crisis were directly linked to Akufo-Addo’s stewardship.
He also vowed to continue celebrating Akufo-Addo’s legacy while he is still alive.
“We will celebrate you in your lifetime, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo…We will honour you in real time,” Sarbah wrote, adding that the celebration of the former president’s achievements would begin at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout and extend to iconic monuments across all regional capitals in Ghana.
The commentator further proposed that national edifices be named in Akufo-Addo’s honour, starting with the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout and continuing across the country.
He emphasized that Ghanaians will not wait until he passes away to honour him, pledging that the recognition would take place during his lifetime.
Sarbah concluded with a message of enduring respect and loyalty, describing Akufo-Addo as a visionary and a man of unparalleled leadership.
“For this, and much more, we celebrate you. We honour you. And we say we are forever sorry. Long live Addo Dee, long live. Long live the visionary, long live,” he wrote.
The post has generated significant reactions online, reflecting the enduring influence and popularity of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo among sections of the Ghanaian public and within the New Patriotic Party base.
