According to family members, Ama’s boyfriend, Kwame Mensah, informed them of her death in the early hours of today, leaving them in shock and disbelief.
Ama, a 28-year-old mother of two, had left her family home the previous evening to meet with Kwame, with whom she had been in a relationship for over a year.
Ama’s uncle, Kojo Yeboah, shared how the family received the shocking news.
“Kwame called her mother and said she had been found dead. He claimed she was attacked on her way back from meeting him, but beyond that, he gave us no details. When we tried calling him back, his phone was suddenly off, and we haven’t heard from him since,” Yeboah explained, frustration clear in his voice.
The details surrounding Ama’s death have left her family and community grappling with sorrow and outrage. According to police reports, Ama’s body was discovered on a quiet roadside with visible signs of trauma.
Disturbingly, the preliminary autopsy report reveals she had been strangled before her body was left on the roadside.
Friends and neighbors of Ama have taken to social media, expressing their grief and frustration, demanding justice for the young mother.
“Ama was full of life, always laughing, and a dedicated mother,” wrote Akua Sika, a childhood friend. “Who could be so cruel to take her away like this? She didn’t deserve this.”
The local police have launched a full investigation, with the Ashanti Regional Commander, ACP Joseph Badu, assuring the public that the authorities will leave no stone unturned.
“This is a serious case, and we are committed to finding the person or people responsible for this heinous act. We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in our investigations.”
Ama’s tragic death is the latest in a series of violent incidents involving women in the area, raising concerns about the safety of women in the community.
The Ashanti Regional Women’s Association has called for more stringent measures to protect women, demanding increased police patrols and community safety awareness programs.
As Ama’s family prepares to lay her to rest, they continue to search for answers and call for justice. Her mother, in a tearful statement, said,
“Ama was a loving daughter, a caring mother, and a friend to many. We will not stop until those responsible for her death are brought to justice.”
