A young British-born woman has arrived in Ghana in search of her father, Mr. Edward Boateng, who was reportedly deported from the United Kingdom more than three decades ago.
According to her, Mr. Boateng once worked as a taxi driver in the UK before being forced to return to Ghana under circumstances that were never made clear to the family.
She explained that she grew up in Britain without her father and has now taken it upon herself to reconnect with him and learn more about her Ghanaian roots.
Speaking to journalists at the Kotoka International Airport, she said her trip to Ghana is both an emotional and personal journey.
“I have lived most of my life with unanswered questions. All I know is that my father, Edward Boateng, was sent back to Ghana while working as a taxi driver in the UK. I do not know if he is alive, where he is, or whether he has another family here,” she revealed.
The young woman, who asked not to have her name disclosed for privacy reasons, added that her search is not only about finding her father but also about filling the emotional gap that his absence left in her life.
“Growing up without a father was not easy. I want to look him in the eye, whether to forgive him, to understand him, or simply to know him,” she said with teary eyes.
Her story has already started attracting public attention. Some Ghanaians have taken to social media, offering to assist her in locating Mr. Boateng.
Others have expressed sympathy, noting how difficult it is for children raised without parents to cope with identity struggles later in life.
