Mohammed Mumuni, the Municipal Coordinating Director of Mampong, has died following a sudden illness while travelling from Accra to Kumasi on Wednesday, March 12, 2026.
Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene announced the death in a Facebook post on March 13, expressing condolences to the bereaved family and staff of the Mampong Municipal Assembly.

"On behalf of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Mohammed Mumuni, the Municipal Coordinating.
Director of Mampong, who sadly passed away on Wednesday while returning from Accra to Kumasi after a sudden illness," Dr. Amoakohene wrote.
The late official held one of the most critical positions in Ghana's local governance structure. Municipal Coordinating Directors oversee the administrative functions of municipal assemblies and coordinate the implementation of government policies at the local level, making them essential figures in municipal administration.
Dr. Amoakohene described Mumuni as a committed public servant whose contributions significantly advanced the administration and development of the Mampong municipality. He praised the late director's dedication to public service and his role in supporting the growth of the local authority.
