A writer affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party, P.K. Sarpong, has raised concerns about the perceived neutrality of activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor following his participation in an international conference.
In a Facebook post shared on March 25, 2026, Sarpong suggested that Barker-Vormawor’s presence at a United Nations conference in New York as part of Ghana’s delegation may be linked to recent public comments in which he has praised President John Dramani Mahama.
The post, which included an image of Barker-Vormawor seated among representatives at the event, implied that his attendance was state-sponsored, raising questions about his long-held public image as an independent voice.
The development has sparked debate on social media, with some individuals alleging that Barker-Vormawor may have affiliations with the National Democratic Congress, despite previously being regarded as politically neutral.
The situation has reignited discussions about the role of civil society actors in government delegations and the broader issue of perceived political alignment in Ghana’s public discourse.
