The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Daniel Fenyi, has commended students involved in recent public art projects, describing their work as a significant achievement despite being carried out at no cost to the state.
In a Facebook post shared on March 24, 2026, Fenyi explained that the activity undertaken by the students falls under painting, a component of Creative Arts within Visual Arts.
He noted that the students are voluntarily contributing their skills, expressing enthusiasm and pride while showcasing their creativity in a public space.
According to him, the students view the opportunity as a privilege granted by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Amoakohene, allowing them to display their talent at what he described as a culturally significant and historic event.
Fenyi contrasted the current initiative with a previous instance where Ghana reportedly spent $25 million on painting projects in Accra during the NPP regime, stressing that the present effort, executed at virtually no cost, represents substantial savings to the country.
He argued that while student painting activities may not typically attract national attention, the context in Ghana makes it noteworthy, particularly given the financial implications. He emphasized that saving such a large amount of public funds should be regarded as a major achievement.
The GES PRO further highlighted the energy, creativity, and passion demonstrated by the students, noting that their work reflects the potential within the education system when given the right platform.
He also indicated that the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Education Service is open to collaborating with institutions, organisations, and individuals interested in organising national art competitions or projects aimed at promoting student creativity and talent.
