Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has firmly denied allegations of misusing public funds, describing the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

His response follows accusations made by social commentator Sam Payne, who alleged that the Minister travels with multiple vehicles carrying bloggers and traditional media personnel at the expense of the state.

In a Facebook post dated March 18, 2026, Dr. Amoakohene reacted strongly to the claims, questioning their credibility and dismissing them as baseless.

He expressed disbelief over the accusations, suggesting they were exaggerated and lacked factual grounding.

His response also carried a tone of criticism toward his accuser, indicating frustration over what he perceives as deliberate misinformation.

The controversy began after Sam Payne publicly alleged that the Minister routinely moves with three vans—two reportedly assigned to bloggers and one to traditional media—raising concerns about possible misuse of government resources.

Payne characterized the situation as an example of wasteful spending and called for greater accountability in how public officials utilize state logistics.

However, Dr. Amoakohene has rejected these assertions, maintaining that his official duties often require coordination with media personnel to ensure effective communication of government policies and activities.

He implied that such logistical arrangements are part of standard administrative operations rather than personal indulgence.

The exchange has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with opinions sharply divided. Some members of the public have echoed calls for transparency and accountability, urging authorities to clarify the use of public funds and logistics.

Others, however, have come to the Minister’s defense, arguing that engaging both traditional and digital media is essential in modern governance and public outreach.

Political observers note that the incident reflects a broader climate of heightened scrutiny over public spending and the conduct of government officials.

As citizens increasingly demand openness and responsible governance, such allegations—whether proven or not—tend to generate significant public interest and debate.

While no formal investigation has been announced, the issue continues to fuel discussions about ethics in public office and the importance of balancing effective governance with prudent use of state resources.
