Controversial Ghanaian broadcaster Kevin Ekow Taylor has lashed out at former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia following his recent public apology to Ghanaians.
Bawumia, who is seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the next elections, admitted that his party made mistakes during their eight years in power and pleaded with citizens to forgive them. Speaking at a gathering of party delegates, he said:
“I stand here as part of a collective. From the Vice President, Ministers, MPs, and appointees—we all failed. Please forgive us. We have learned our lessons, and if I am given the chance to lead, such mistakes will not be repeated.”
His remarks quickly went viral, but not everyone was convinced. Kevin Taylor, speaking on his online political talk show, dismissed the apology as empty and vague. According to him, Ghanaians deserve more than a general statement.
“You say we should forgive you, but what exactly are you sorry for? You boasted about implementing 33 policies and claimed your government was the best ever. If you failed, tell us how. Was it the economy? Corruption? Unemployment? You can’t just say ‘forgive us’ without specifics,” Taylor fired.
He went further, questioning Bawumia’s fitness to govern. In his view, the former Vice President, along with outspoken MP Kennedy Agyapong, lack the vision and discipline required for leadership.
“You look too desperate for power. I feel pity for you. Kennedy Agyapong is hot-tempered, and you, Dr. Bawumia, are a liar. How can such people be trusted with the future of Ghana?” Taylor said.
