Months after the passing of Ghanaian politician Akua Donkor, images and videos of a lavish mansion reportedly owned by her have surfaced online, sparking a wave of public reaction.

The property, featured in a YouTube video by DEK360Ghana, is estimated by some to be worth over a million dollars.

The emergence of the luxurious residence has stirred debate about the late politician’s financial background and lifestyle, particularly considering her grassroots image.

Akua Donkor, founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), was widely known for her bold personality, unfiltered remarks, and unwavering commitment to rural development.

She rose to prominence from a humble background as a cocoa farmer, defying the odds to contest Ghana’s highest office multiple times — in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

Despite facing numerous financial and political challenges, she remained one of the most persistent female voices in the political arena.

Throughout her political career, Donkor championed policies such as free education, farmer support programs, and better social welfare for rural communities.

Her simplicity and direct communication style earned her both admiration and criticism, making her a polarizing but unforgettable figure in Ghanaian politics.

The newly circulated footage of her alleged mansion, however, has shocked many of her supporters and critics alike. The house features modern architectural designs, a spacious compound, and what appears to be premium interior finishes — a stark contrast to the modest lifestyle she was publicly known for.

Reactions to the footage have been mixed. While some Ghanaians have expressed pride in Donkor’s achievements and viewed the mansion as a symbol of her hard work and determination, others have raised questions about the source of her wealth.

The luxurious nature of the property has led to renewed scrutiny over how she funded her campaigns and personal projects.

George Afful, the General Secretary of the Ghana Freedom Party, responded to the developments by emphasizing Donkor’s legacy rather than speculations.

“Madam Akua Donkor was a strong woman who loved Ghana deeply. She fought for the voiceless,” he said, recalling fond memories of her commitment and leadership.
