Several Ghanaians who traveled to Libya in search of better opportunities have spoken out about the difficult living conditions they are enduring.
Many of them expressed deep regret over their decision to leave Ghana and the hardships they now face while living in cramped and unsanitary rooms in Libya.
One of the individuals, speaking in a recent interview, shared the challenges they are currently facing, saying, “The room we live in is overcrowded, and it’s far from the life we dreamed of when we left Ghana.”
He went on to describe how the conditions are unbearable, with little access to basic necessities like clean water, proper sanitation, and enough space to rest.
“It’s nothing like we imagined. We miss home, and we long for the comfort of our country,” he added, with a tone of sadness in his voice.
Another Ghanaian, who also wanted to remain anonymous, explained how they had hoped to find work in Libya to support their families back home.
“We came here thinking we would find better opportunities, but life is tough,” they said. “We were promised good jobs, but instead, we are stuck in poor conditions, and it feels like we made a mistake.”
The frustration and homesickness are clear among many of the Ghanaian migrants in Libya.
“I miss my family, I miss my friends, and most of all, I miss Ghana. It’s hard to live in a place like this, far from home,” another migrant shared.
These accounts paint a stark picture of the reality many face after leaving Ghana in search of better prospects.
While some find success, many others struggle with poor living conditions, exploitation, and a lack of proper support.
