A joint police operation in parts of Ghana has led to the arrest of seven suspected gang members believed to be behind a series of violent incidents.
The raid, carried out on the evening at 6.23 pm, targeted hideouts within a densely populated neighborhood where criminals were said to be operating freely.
According to police sources, the suspects were picked up in an area where they had been hiding stolen property and tools often used in housebreaking and street attacks.
Officers recovered weapons including machetes, knives, and other dangerous implements believed to have been prepared for criminal activity.
The operation was part of an ongoing campaign launched by the Ghana Police Service to weaken and dismantle organized gangs across the country.
Over the past months, authorities have intensified patrols and intelligence-led raids in several regions after an increase in cases of burglary, robbery, and gang violence.
Security officials explained that the success of such operations is largely due to information shared by community members.
They urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing reliable tips that could help security agencies track down individuals who threaten public safety.
The seven suspects arrested are currently in custody and will be processed for court in the coming days. Police say they are likely to face multiple charges ranging from unlawful possession of weapons to attempted robbery.
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the men are linked to other criminal networks operating within the region.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service stressed its commitment to ensuring that communities feel safe and protected.
“The safety of citizens remains our top priority. We will not relent in our efforts until these criminal groups are completely dismantled,” the statement read.
Residents who witnessed the raid expressed relief, noting that the area had become a hotspot for theft and intimidation.
One shop owner revealed that many businesses were closing earlier than usual out of fear of attacks but hoped that the arrests would restore calm.
Authorities have assured Ghanaians that more coordinated operations will follow in other regions as part of a nationwide security plan.
The public has been reminded that fighting crime requires strong cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.
