A Ghanaian woman has been praised for her bravery after stopping two suspected robbers who tried to attack her in Ashaley Botwe, Accra.
The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, happened when the suspects trailed her car on a motorbike. According to her account, she noticed that the motorbike had been following her for some time.
To confirm her suspicion, she pulled over briefly to observe their movements. Moments later, the men smashed her.
Instead of panicking, the woman quickly drove after them. In a dramatic turn, she rammed her Toyota vehicle into the bike, knocking it down.
Though the two men managed to flee on foot, they left behind their damaged motorbike at the scene. A video shared online shows the motorbike trapped under her car, with bystanders gathering in shock.
Many people online described her as a fearless woman who refused to be a victim. Others, however, expressed concern that her action could have put her life at risk.
Social media reactions were divided. Some users applauded her courage, calling her “a true street heroine.” They argued that ordinary citizens must sometimes defend themselves, especially with the rise in motorbike-related robberies in Accra.
Others questioned her decision, noting that she could have endangered herself or damaged her car without catching the culprits.
Despite the mixed views, many agreed that the incident highlighted the growing insecurity faced by drivers, particularly at night. Some commenters even urged the police to intensify patrols in robbery-prone areas to prevent similar attacks.
Residents in the Ashaley Botwe area say such incidents are becoming common, as thieves often use motorbikes to snatch phones, handbags, and other valuables from unsuspecting victims. This has led to calls for stronger enforcement of road safety and crime control measures.
Though the robbers escaped, people hailed the woman’s quick thinking and bravery. For many, her actions serve as a reminder that vigilance and courage can sometimes turn the tables on criminals.
The police are yet to release an official statement on the matter, but the abandoned motorbike has been taken as evidence.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians continue to celebrate the woman, with some nicknaming her “Ɔbaa Tagɔ,” meaning “the fearless woman.”
