According to a report by TV3 Ghana on Saturday April 25, 2026, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed plans to relocate Emmanuel Asamoah following recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over the safety of Ghanaians living abroad, particularly in areas where tensions have escalated into violence.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that the government is taking swift action to ensure the protection and well-being of Mr Asamoah.
According to the Minister, the relocation forms part of broader efforts by the state to respond to the challenges faced by its citizens in foreign countries.
Mr Ablakwa explained that the government remains committed to safeguarding all Ghanaians, regardless of their location.
He noted that the Ministry is working closely with Ghana’s diplomatic mission in South Africa to facilitate a smooth and secure relocation process for Mr Asamoah.
The intervention highlights the importance the government places on the welfare of its nationals, especially in times of crisis.
The Minister also emphasized that Ghana continues to engage with South African authorities on the issue of xenophobic violence.
He stressed the need for stronger cooperation to prevent further attacks and to ensure that affected individuals receive the necessary protection.
Xenophobic incidents in South Africa have, over the years, raised concerns across the African continent.
Several foreign nationals, including Ghanaians, have been affected by these outbreaks of violence, prompting calls for decisive action from governments and regional bodies.
The relocation of Emmanuel Asamoah is therefore seen as a proactive step by the Ghanaian government.
It reflects a broader commitment to citizen protection and underscores the Ministry’s readiness to act when the safety of Ghanaians is threatened.
The Ministry has assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and take further measures where necessary to protect its citizens abroad.
