A New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart and Ashanti Regional Chairman hopeful, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has claimed that millions of Ghanaians are eager to see the opposition party return to power.

Speaking during a political engagement, Kokofu stated that more than seven million Ghanaians are “crying out” for the return of the New Patriotic Party, suggesting that public dissatisfaction with the current administration is fueling renewed support for the party.

According to him, many citizens are increasingly reflecting on governance under the NPP and now believe the party offered better leadership and policy direction during its time in office.

“More than 7 million Ghanaians are crying out because they want to see the NPP return to power,” he said, a remark that has since generated discussion within political circles and on social media.

Kokofu’s comments come as internal political activities within the NPP continue to intensify, particularly ahead of party restructuring and leadership contests at various regional and national levels.

His declaration is also viewed as part of efforts to energize party supporters and strengthen confidence in the NPP’s political prospects.

The Ashanti Region has historically been regarded as a stronghold of the NPP, often playing a crucial role in the party’s electoral fortunes. As a result, leadership contests and political messaging from the region typically attract significant national attention.

While supporters of the NPP have welcomed Kokofu’s comments as evidence of growing grassroots enthusiasm, critics argue that such claims are largely political rhetoric and should ultimately be tested through elections and measurable public support.

Political analysts note that statements about mass public support are common in pre-election discourse, as parties attempt to shape perceptions and build momentum ahead of future campaigns.

As Ghana’s political environment remains active, comments from party figures like Kokofu are expected to continue fueling debate over governance, electoral prospects, and the country’s political direction in the years ahead.
