Yaw Asani-Tano, a political analyst, has urged President John Dramani Mahama and Randy Abbey to reward the man who revealed that they were paid to embark on a recent demonstration against the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

The man was among the disgruntled cocoa farmers who picketed the headquarters of COCOBOD in Accra, protesting over falling producer prices and delayed payments that they say are pushing farming households into economic distress.

Speaking to the media during the protest, the man firmly stated that they are not cocoa farmers, alleging that they were paid GHS250 each by people he said were leading members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to participate in the exercise, aiming to make the NDC government look unpopular.

His staggering revelation ignited heated debate, with some Ghanaians criticising the opposition NPP for inciting cocoa farmers against the government.

Speaking on Accra-based UTV, Yaw Asani-Tano called on the government to reward the man with a two-bedroom house for his good deeds, stressing that his honesty had saved the government's reputation by making Ghanaians aware that the protest was not genuine.

According to him, the revelation by the man has proven to Ghanaians that the NPP just wanted to score political points with the reduction of the cocoa producer price.

He highlighted that rewarding the man will trigger a sense of patriotism and encourage other Ghanaians to place the interest of the nation above their political affiliations.

"President Mahama and Randy Abbey should reward the man who revealed that they were paid to demonstrate at COCOBOD with a two-bedroom house for saving the government's reputation," he stated.
