Political analyst J.A. Sarbah has publicly apologized to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying recent developments under the current government have justified the former leader’s time in office.

In a Facebook post shared on February 22, 2026, Sarbah stated that many Ghanaians now regret the level of criticism directed at Akufo-Addo while he was president.

This follows what he described as disappointing governance under President John Mahama, who assumed office in 2025.

“Nana Akufo-Addo, we are sorry. Forgive us,” Sarbah wrote, adding that the former president’s legacy had been unfairly judged and is only now receiving proper recognition.

Sarbah argued that Mahama’s return to power has revealed what he considers to be unfair hostility toward Akufo-Addo. He described the former president as selfless, compassionate, and visionary, suggesting that envy rather than objective evaluation influenced much of the earlier criticism.

He further claimed that ongoing economic and governance difficulties have led many citizens to reassess Akufo-Addo’s record, resulting in renewed appreciation for his leadership.

The remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some supporters agree with Sarbah’s position, others have dismissed his comments as politically biased in the context of Ghana’s changing political landscape.
