The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed the Ghana Police Service to launch a full investigation into allegations circulating in a viral video claiming that some police personnel were involved in the unauthorised withdrawal of GH₵400,000 from a mobile money account belonging to an agent in Kibi.

According to a statement from the police administration, the matter has been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), the unit responsible for investigating misconduct and disciplinary issues involving police officers.

The directive forms part of efforts by the Police Service to ensure transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the force.

The viral video, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, alleged that certain officers stationed in Kibi were involved in the withdrawal of a large sum of money from the mobile money account of a local agent without proper authorization. The claims quickly sparked public concern and calls for a thorough investigation.

Police authorities have confirmed that the alleged victim has already been contacted and is currently cooperating with investigators as part of the ongoing probe.

Officials say statements are being taken and relevant evidence is being gathered to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The Police Professional Standards Bureau is expected to carefully examine the allegations and determine whether any police personnel were involved in wrongdoing.

Should the investigation confirm any misconduct, the Police Service says appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against those responsible.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that it remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens from abuse of authority. Authorities have also urged the public to remain calm while investigations continue.

Police leadership further assured that the outcome of the investigation will be made public once the process is completed. Ghanaians after seeing this statement has praised the IGP with some calling him the best and some boldly stating Ghana being in safe hands.
