The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Drew, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a powerful and inspiring address at the United Nations General Assembly.

“Your speech inspired me, and I told my team I wanted to meet you,” Prime Minister Drew reportedly said during an interaction with President Mahama on the sidelines of international engagements.

The remarks have since sparked positive reactions, with many praising the growing diplomatic ties between Ghana and Caribbean nations.

President Mahama’s address at the UN General Assembly focused on issues affecting developing nations, including climate change, global economic inequality, debt restructuring, and the need for stronger South-South cooperation.

His call for fairness in global financial systems and greater representation for developing countries resonated with several leaders from small island states and emerging economies.

For Saint Kitts and Nevis, a small island nation particularly vulnerable to climate change and global economic shocks, the themes raised in Mahama’s speech reportedly struck a chord.

Prime Minister Drew is said to have expressed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Ghana in areas such as trade, education, climate resilience, and cultural exchange.

Observers say the exchange underscores Ghana’s growing influence on the global stage and highlights renewed efforts to deepen historical and cultural bonds between Africa and the Caribbean. The meeting is seen as a significant diplomatic moment, signaling potential collaboration between Accra and Basseterre.

As global challenges continue to demand unified action, leaders from both nations appear eager to build partnerships grounded in shared history, mutual respect, and common development goals.
