Ghanaian entrepreneur Richard Nii Armah Quaye has generated widespread discussion on social media after disclosing the small portion of his earnings he actually spends.

In a video circulating online and sighted by GhanaWeb on Friday, March 13, 2026, the businessman explained during a speech that there was a time when he spent roughly 20 percent of his income.

According to him, as a person’s earnings grow, the value represented by that same percentage also increases.

He indicated that even with his current financial standing, his spending still remains below 20 percent of his income.

The business leader, who has also received international attention from Forbes, added that his financial growth has now reached a level where he spends only a very small fraction of what he earns.

Reflecting on his journey, he explained that while he once operated around the 20 percent spending level earlier in his career, his wealth has expanded significantly over time.

“As you continue to grow, your income begins to increase, so the 20% will also continue to increase for you. As I speak to you now, I am still spending below 20% of my income,” he said.

At present, he estimates that he uses only about 2 percent of his total earnings, noting that the amount is more than enough for his needs.

“In fact, looking at where I am in life and where I started, I was around the 20% mark. But as you move forward and your worth becomes bigger, now I take about 2% of my worth, and I can’t even spend it,” he said.
