Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, has revealed a deeply personal account of disappointment following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ascent to power in 2016, highlighting concerns about recognition and reward within political party structures.

Speaking candidly about his experience, Nyindam disclosed that despite his active involvement and strong commitment to the NPP during its years in opposition, he was overlooked for any political appointment for four years after the party formed government.

According to him, his contributions, alongside those of many grassroots supporters, played a significant role in securing the party’s electoral victory, making the lack of acknowledgment particularly disheartening.

Nyindam explained that his loyalty to the party remained steadfast throughout this period, driven by a belief in its vision and leadership.

However, he admitted that he had anticipated some form of recognition or opportunity to serve in government after the NPP assumed office.

Instead, he found himself sidelined while others were appointed to various positions, a situation he described as both surprising and disappointing.

He further noted that his experience reflects a broader issue within political parties, where the efforts of grassroots members are not always adequately rewarded once power is attained.

Nyindam emphasized that many dedicated party supporters across the country face similar challenges, raising concerns about fairness and inclusivity in political systems.

Despite these frustrations, Nyindam made it clear that he remains committed to the NPP. His remarks, however, serve as a call for introspection within the party, urging leadership to adopt more transparent and inclusive approaches in recognizing loyalty and service.

His comments have since sparked public debate, with political observers questioning how parties can better manage internal expectations and ensure that contributions at all levels are fairly acknowledged.
